New CEO Lance Dutson starts today

Although today was his official start date as MHPC’s new chief executive officer, Lance Dutson has been busy since the announcement was made last week that he will replace former CEO Tarren Bragdon as leader of Maine’s premier free market think tank.

Lance’s selection as new MHPC CEO was widely covered in the media. The Portland Press Herald, Kennebec Journal, Morning Sentinel, Bangor Daily News, Lewiston Sun Journal, MaineBiz, and MPBN all covered Lance’s hiring, as did Maine Ahead magazine, Pine Tree Politics, New England Cable News, and even the national Web site Real Clear Politics.

Lance also spent time on talk radio, discussing his new priorities for the organization. Last Thursday he was on WLOB News Talk, and the George Hale/Ric Tyler show on WVOM. Over the weekend, Lance made an appearance on WGAN’s Inside Maine.

Beyond hitting the news circuit, Lance has already been busy advancing an agenda of expanded government transparency and accountability. Even before he was formally on the job, Lance sent a letter to Maine Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins urging their support of an open and transparent deficit-reduction committee.

We’re glad to have Lance on the team. We know he will keep us busy, and he’ll do a great job advancing our free market movement across the state.

Welcome aboard, Lance.
