One In Seven People Worldwide Think World Coming to an EndBy • May 3rd, 2012 • Category: International News, National News, Religion
Reuters reports that according to a recent poll conducted worldwide, 1 in 7 or about 15% of the people on this planet think the end of the world is going to happen, whether by Biblical proportions as written in the Bible, Mayan predictions or some natural or man-made disaster. The United States alone showed 22% believing in a world ending event.
I am a bit surprised at these numbers as a whole and really for the U.S. Without knowing exactly what each participant in the poll was asked for a question, it is hard to determine what people’s thoughts were exactly.
Bible believers are taught through Scripture that the world or this planet will not “end”. At some point God will set up His “Heaven on Earth” but certainly life as we know it here will cease at some point. So if the question is purely about whether the world or this planet would physically be destroyed, it isn’t going to happen and I would have voted “no”.
